Overview of the Printing, Print Finishing, and Die Cutting Processes
To produce high-quality packaging, raw paper or cardboard must pass through a specialized sequence of industrial processes. This lamination machine plays a crucial role in the "Print Finishing" stage.
1. The Printing Process
The manufacturing journey begins in the press room. Depending on the volume and quality required, paper or cardboard sheets are fed into commercial offset presses or high-speed digital printers. Here, ink is applied to create the branding, text, and imagery.
2. Print Finishing (Lamination & Pasting)
Once printed, the sheets often require added protection or visual enhancement before they are cut. This is where our Film to Paper Lamination Machine comes in.
- Lamination: A thin layer of plastic film (such as BOPP, PET, or specialty gold and silver film) is bonded to the printed paper using heat and specialized adhesives. This makes the packaging water-resistant, durable, and visually striking.
- Paper Pasting/Mounting: In some cases, a high-quality printed paper sheet is pasted (mounted) onto a thicker, rigid substrate like corrugated board to combine excellent print quality with structural strength.
3. Die Cutting and Final Converting
After the sheets have been laminated or pasted, they move to the die-cutting department. An automatic die-cutting machine punches out the flat shape of the box and presses creasing lines into the material to dictate where it will fold.
Finally, the flat, cut blanks are fed into a folder-gluer machine, which folds the carton along the crease lines and glues the seams, delivering a finished box ready for the end-user.
