1. The Printing Process

Production begins with high-resolution printing. For cardboard, this is typically done on offset lithography presses using CMYK inks. For plastic boxes, UV printing presses are utilized, instantly curing the ink onto the non-porous synthetic surface so it won't smudge or peel.

2. The Die Cutting Process

The printed sheets are transferred to an automatic flatbed die cutter. A highly detailed steel-rule die punches out the exact shapes of multiple small boxes simultaneously. For miniature boxes, the creasing rules must be incredibly precise, as even a millimeter of deviation can cause the tiny boxes to fold crookedly. The waste matrix is stripped, leaving flat blanks.

3. Print Finishing & Assembly (The Folder Gluer Process)

The die-cut blanks are loaded into this specialized Mini Folder Gluer Machine, executing complex maneuvers at high velocity:

• Feeding & Turning: The tiny blanks are fed from the magazine. The large turning device can rotate the blank 90 degrees mid-stream. This is crucial for producing complex packaging like crashlock bottoms or beverage sleeves that require folds on multiple axes.
• The Nordson Hotmelt System: Standard cold glue will not adhere to plastic boxes or UV-coated cardboard. The integrated Nordson system extrudes highly controlled dots or lines of heated, molten adhesive that bonds instantly to difficult, non-porous substrates upon cooling.
• Final Folding & Compression: High-friction belts guide the miniature flaps into place. The completed boxes are then passed through a compression section to ensure the hotmelt secures perfectly before delivery.
