USED POCKET AND GUSSET BAG MACHINE FL SMITHE LO (40 x 60 CM)
Expand your converting portfolio with the robust FL Smithe LO Pocket and Gusset Bag Production Machine. Specifically engineered to handle challenging structural formats, this machine excels at manufacturing extension and capacity products—such as thick gusseted courier bags, expanding file pockets, and heavy-duty seed bags—up to a maximum size of 40 x 60 cm. Its heavy-duty folding plows and glue systems are built to process thick Kraft paper and specialty stocks that standard envelope machines simply cannot handle.
- Condition: The machine is in a good technical state. The complex folding stations, gumming units, and delivery systems have been maintained for continuous, reliable production.
- Extras: Supplied with lots of spare parts, including replacement folding plows, drive belts, glue pot components, and gears.
- Price: 12,000 EUR - "AS IS" In Kostinbrod, Bulgaria, EU

The Specialty Bag Workflow: Printing, Die Cutting, and Print Finishing
Manufacturing expanding "capacity" products like V-bottom gusset bags and heavy-duty pockets requires a specialized workflow, as these products must expand to hold thick items like books or medical files.
1. The Printing Process
Because these products are often used for shipping or heavy-duty filing, they are typically printed on thick, durable Kraft paper or manila stock. The printing is usually done on commercial flexographic presses (ideal for solid colors and logos on rough paper) or large-format offset presses before the material is cut.
2. The Die Cutting Process
Once printed, the heavy paper sheets are moved to an automatic die cutter. A custom steel-rule die stamps out the specific, complex shape of the bag blank. Crucially, the die presses multiple parallel crease lines into the sides and bottom of the blank. These multiple creases are what allow the final product to fold into an expanding "gusset".
3. Print Finishing & Assembly (The FL Smithe LO Process)
The die-cut blanks are fed into the FL Smithe LO Machine, where the flat paper is transformed into a 3D expanding pocket:
- Feeding & Gusset Forming: The machine pulls the heavy blanks into the folding section. Specialized tooling and plows force the paper to fold inward along the multiple crease lines, creating the expandable bellows (the gussets) on the sides or bottom.
- Gluing: Because these capacity bags hold heavy items, the machine applies a strong, permanent line of adhesive to the thick side seams and bottom flap.
- Compression & Delivery: The finished gusset bags are passed through heavy compression rollers to ensure the glue sets firmly through the thick paper layers, and are then delivered flat onto a conveyor for packing.
