The Packaging Production Workflow: Printing, Die Cutting, and Finishing
Producing structurally sound and visually appealing packaging involves a sequence of specialized processes. A large format die cutter is a pivotal piece of equipment in this sequence.
1. Printing Process
Before materials are cut, they are typically printed with branding, barcodes, and product information. For packaging, this is often done using offset lithography (for high-quality graphics on folding cartons) or flexography (for direct printing on corrugated board).
Alternatively, pre-printed paper may be litho-laminated onto corrugated board for a premium finish.
2. Die Cutting Process (Where this machine fits)
Die cutting is the process of using a specialized tool (a die) to cut, score, and crease the printed material into the specific flat shape (blank) required for the final box.
This Large Size Roll and Flat Bed Die Cutter operates by pressing a custom-made steel-rule die against the material. The flatbed design provides uniform pressure across the entire 100 x 140 cm area, ensuring clean cuts and crisp crease lines, even on thick corrugated materials or large display components.
3. Print Finishing & Folder Gluing
After the material is die-cut and the waste (matrix) is stripped away, the flat blanks move to the finishing stage.
Here, folder-gluer machines automatically fold the blanks along the pre-creased lines and apply adhesive to the necessary seams. The resulting product is a flat-packed box that can be easily erected and filled by the end-user.
