    The Print Production Workflow: Printing, UV Coating, and Die Cutting

    Creating durable, visually striking packaging and commercial prints involves a specialized multi-step process. Adding full-surface UV varnishing protects the underlying ink and gives the final product a premium tactile feel.

    1. The Printing Process

    The manufacturing process begins on a commercial offset lithography or digital press. Blank sheets of paper or cardboard are fed through the press where CMYK inks are applied to create the graphics. Because standard inks can easily smudge or scratch, the sheets are then moved to the finishing department for coating.

    2. Print Finishing (The Full Surface UV Coating Process)

    This is where the Full Surface Varnishing Machine takes over to seal and protect the printed sheet:

    • Feeding & Coating: The printed sheets (up to 72 cm wide) are fed into the machine. They pass between a rubber application roller and an impression cylinder. The roller is bathed in a liquid UV-curable polymer varnish, which is rolled evenly across the entire surface of the sheet.

    3. The Die Cutting & Assembly Process

A custom steel-rule die punches the sheets into specific shapes (such as folding cartons or pocket folders) and presses in the crease lines. The flat, coated blanks are then assembled via folder-gluer machines into their final 3D shape.
